Kiwanis Food Drive a Success! - 10/18/2017

The Kiwanis Club of Middletown held a food drive on Saturday October 7th and Sunday October 8th at the Middletown Stop and Shop.
Several club members helped solicit non-perishable food items for Amazing Grace Food Pantry. Thanks to the generosity of the Stop & Shop customers, the club was able to donate over 1,000 items, weighing in at 1002 pounds of food. The Kiwanis food drive raised roughly enough food for over 1400 meals.
Did you know: a $1 donation becomes 4 meals?   That’s 5 pounds of food!
This was our first food drive but we plan on doing several throughout the year. Our next food drive is scheduled for Superbowl weekend at Stop and Shop in Middletown...


Warm The Children Receives $1500 from Cromwell Walmart - 08/30/2017

The Kiwanis Warm The Children program received a $1500 Local Community Grant from the Cromwell Walmart. Store Manager Ed Siochij approved the grant request submitted by program coordinator Lynn Baldoni. Baldoni stated: "This grant will allow us to serve approximately 20 children this upcoming season. We are very appreciative of the continued support from the store manager and his team in Cromwell."

The new shopping season is fast approaching. Warm The Children expects to serve more than 750 children again this year. Each child will be alotted up to $80 to spend on new winter clothing and footwear. More than 150 shoppers will assist the families as they shop. 100% of the donation...

PRESS RELEASE - The Kiwanis Foundation of Middletown is pleased to announce it has received a $2,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Middlesex County. This grant is made possible, in part, through the Community Foundation of Middlesex County/Chuck and Rachel Wiltsie Fund, William McCann and Best Cleaners Fund, Preston Family Fund, Patti Anne Vassia Fund, Jan Ellen Youngblood Fund. The Kiwanis Foundation of Middletown will use these funds to support the Warm The Children program.

Congratulations to Kiwanis Member Phil Cacciola - Acknowledged as "Home Town Hero" - 04/29/2017

Long time Kiwanis member Phil Cacciola was acknowledged at an Arbor Day Celebration and described by Jane Harris as a Vet “whose work in Middletown and the region is just unparalleled”. One of two autumn red maples were planted in his honor on the Vertan's Memorial Green.

*Jane Harris is a master gardener, arborist and chairwoman of the city’s Urban Forestry Commission.

Kiwanis Member Tom Serra Acknowledged for his Service to the Middletown Community - Italian Citizen of the Year! - 10/09/2016

Congratulations to Kiwanis member Tom Serra! Tom r received the Elks Lodge #771 "Italian Citizen of the Year" award at the Lodge's annual Italian Night Dinner on October 8th. Tom was acknowledged for his tireless service to the Middletown Community.


Kiwanis supports Middletown Public Schools Read Across America Program - 10/05/2016

Club President Elect Karen Nocera presented a $500 donation to Middletown's Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Pat Charles and Assistant Superintendent Dr. Enza Macri for the Read Across America Program.

"NEA's Read Across America is an annual reading motivation and awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on March 2, the birthday of beloved children's author Dr. Seuss."

The donation will help to provide new books to be selected by and kept by each child as a way to encourage a passion for reading.

Gene Nocera installed as Middletown Kiwanis Newest Member! - 09/21/2016

Welcome Dr. Gene Nocera! The newest member of the Middletown Kiwanis Club was installed on 9/21/2016 at our Club meeting by Karen Nocera, Gene's wife and the newest Club President.

Dr. Nocera is currently a Professor of Education at University of St. Joseph and a City of Middletown Councilman serving on various commissions. He is a retired school administrator with experience in both the public and private sector and a former Chairman of the Middletown Board of Education. Dr. Nocera is also the General Chairman of the St. Sebastian Festival in Middletown.


Middletown Kiwanians Serve at the Senior Center! - 09/09/2016

It's National Senior Center Month! Kiwanis Club members cooked and served a French toast & Bacon Breakfast for 90 Seniors this morning at the Middletown Senior Center. We had a great time serving our seniors.


Kiwanis New England & Bermuda District Convention Well Attended! - 08/22/2016

In August the New England & Bermuda District Convention was held right here in Cromwell, CT!  The District's new leadership team for 2016-2017 was installed. They are ready to go! Governor Bart will turn the reins of the district over to Governor-designate, William Jenkins effective October 2, 2016. 

Several of our Middletown Kiwanians attended, received important training, made new friends and a good time was had by all!

2016 Golf Tournament a Big Success! - 08/17/2016

The Kiwanis Annual Golf Tournament presented by Prime Engineering was held at Lyman's Golf Course on August 16th. The 60 golfers played the preferred Jones Course starting with a 9am shotgun. The weather could not have been better! Prizes went to the first & second place teams as well as closest to the pin & long drive. The raffle was a success and we are happy to announce that Dave went home with his beloved case of Bud again this year!
